Hardy Macphail is
a new name on the Scottish legal scene but the firm can trace its
roots well over 100 years. The parent firm of J.M. & J.H. Robertson
was formed in the 1870’s and, while the practice of law at the
beginning of the 21st Century is radically different from Victorian
times, we feel strongly that the basic principles remain the same.
Our aim is still to provide every client with a high quality of service
at a reasonable cost. The firm has always had a broad range of clients,
from individuals of varying means through small businesses to large
national companies, but, no matter the status of the client, we ensure
that for every piece of business there is a direct line of communication
with one of the partners. In these days of increasing specialisation,
this means that many clients will over a period of time have to deal
with more than one partner but our experience is that clients appreciate
that this approach allows us to deliver the highest possible level
of service.
In many cases, cost is
as important to a client as quality of service and we recognise
that a sensible balance must be maintained between the two elements.
The size and structure of the firm are key features in enabling
us to keep costs at a reasonable level without compromising on quality
of service.
In the following pages, we explain in more detail
the range of services offered by the firm. We hope that these are
of interest to you and, if you require any further information,
please feel free to contact any of the partners.
